BAGUIO CITY, May 31, 2026 — Victory Liner on Sunday said all passengers involved in a multi-vehicle road accident in Tuba, Benguet are safe and that most have already returned home, as the transport company launched an internal investigation into the incident that affected an estimated 87 passengers.
In a statement issued a day after the accident along Marcos Highway in Barangay Taloy Sur, the bus operator expressed concern for those injured and apologized for the distress caused by the incident.
“We are relieved to report that all passengers involved in the accident are safe,” the company said, adding that those who sustained injuries received immediate medical attention and that many of the affected passengers had already been discharged from hospitals.
Victory Liner said it has begun a thorough internal review while cooperating with authorities investigating the cause of the crash.
The accident occurred at around 8:56 p.m. Saturday in the Caucalan area of Taloy Sur and involved two Victory Liner buses and an Isuzu MU-X sport utility vehicle.
According to an initial report from the Tuba Municipal Police Station, a southbound Victory Liner bus traveling toward La Union allegedly sideswiped an oncoming Victory Liner bus bound for Baguio City before continuing for about 40 meters, striking the rear portion of an SUV and crashing into a concrete parapet.
The impact caused the bus to roll onto its left side, blocking the Baguio-bound lane.
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) reported that 52 patients were transported to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, while 15 others were admitted to the La Union Medical Center in Agoo. Other passengers were brought to nearby medical facilities, including Benguet General Hospital.
Authorities said no fatalities had been reported as of late Saturday night.
In its statement, Victory Liner stressed that safety remains its highest priority and noted that all of its buses undergo a comprehensive 21-point vehicle inspection and safety check before deployment.
“For decades, Victory Liner has strictly implemented a comprehensive 21-point vehicle inspection and safety check on all buses prior to deployment to help ensure roadworthiness and passenger safety,” the company said.
The bus operator also thanked emergency responders, hospitals, local government units, law enforcement agencies, and volunteers who assisted passengers following the accident.
A large-scale rescue operation was mounted by personnel from the Tuba, La Trinidad, Pugo, and Baguio disaster response offices, the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Philippine Red Cross, police units, emergency medical services, and barangay volunteers.
Police said all three vehicles sustained heavy damage. The investigation into the exact cause of the crash remains ongoing.
