Philippine Travel Ban: BI Actions Against Scams & High-Risk Officials

Atty. Siegfred Mison interviews Ms. Dana Sandoval, spokesperson for the Philippine Bureau of Immigration, on the Foreign Travel Restriction Order and how the BI monitors government officials and high-profile individuals.

The discussion highlights how the FRO restricts travel for certain officials unless cleared by the Department of Justice, while the BI coordinates with international agencies to intercept attempted illegal departures. Key cases, including Sunwest executives traveling to Singapore, Qatar, Australia, and the UAE, are discussed along with active law enforcement warrants.

Ms. Sandoval also explains BI modernization efforts, such as digital services and layered airport monitoring, designed to reduce corruption and strengthen border control. The conversation covers profiling of overseas scam operators, protection of Filipino workers, interagency efforts to fight human trafficking, and ongoing anti-POGO initiatives, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to safeguarding citizens and enforcing accountability.
