Angkas officially launched Angcars EV, the first Filipino-owned electric vehicle (EV) fleet for ride-hailing, in partnership with local EV manufacturer CarBeV. This collaboration signals a new era of sustainable and inclusive mobility in the Philippines, aiming to make clean transportation accessible, safe, and proudly homegrown.
The partnership between Angkas and CarBeV merges Angkas’ trusted mobility platform with CarBeV’s advanced EV technology, offering zero-emission rides that don’t compromise comfort or reliability. According to Angkas CEO George Royeca, Angcars EV marks “the next chapter in Filipino mobility,” emphasizing that sustainable innovation can start locally while empowering both drivers and commuters.
Through CarBeV’s flexible ownership program, drivers can acquire EV units with no down payment, lower monthly amortization, and full ownership after five years. The initiative reduces operational costs, allowing more income to go directly to driver-partners while promoting financial stability and green innovation.
Built around the values of trust, safety, and community, Angcars EV contributes to the Philippines’ carbon reduction goals. Head of Angcars Nur Laminero said the project is “not just about going electric — it’s about going Filipino,” underscoring that every ride supports local innovation, cleaner air, and sustainable livelihoods.
Angcars also differentiates itself with lower commission rates (10%), quick onboarding within 24 hours, and driver benefits such as ₱1,500 daily incentives, SSS and Pag-IBIG subsidies, HMO coverage, and performance rewards. These measures strengthen Angkas’ long-standing reputation as a driver-first mobility platform, transforming gig work into a pathway for economic growth.
The launch event gathered support from industry and government leaders, including DTI’s Winston Castelo, DOE Director Patrick Aquino, and CarBeV CEO Christian Bradley, highlighting public-private collaboration in advancing clean transport. Angcars EV rides are now available in Manila, with upcoming expansions to Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro, ensuring more Filipinos experience safe, comfortable, and sustainable rides.
