BOC Targets ₱3B in Drug Seizures, Auctions Luxury Cars by November
Bureau of Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno revealed plans to strengthen ties with the U.S. Homeland Security after seizing over ₱3 billion worth of illegal drugs and cigarettes, some smuggled through balikbayan boxes. He confirmed that the BOC aims to auction 13 luxury vehicles by mid-November, with expected proceeds reaching up to ₱220 million. Despite earlier collection drops, Nepomuceno reported record-high revenues since July and pledged to continue reforms against corruption and smuggling.
