The Philippine government ordered the release of approximately 100,000 metric tons or 1.2 million Pesos of local rice through an auction this week. This is to secure stabilization of the national rice supply.
Thru the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) in coordination with the Department of Agriculture (DA), President Ferdinand E. Marcos Jr. ordered the release to help address rising prices of rice.
Also, this would help Rice warehouse to dispose most of the current supplies to accommodate newer ones. This will also lead to a better harvest and profit among the farmers.
As per the previous SONA, The President is committed to give his countrymen a cheap, Yet quality source of rice that will help both the Agriculture sector and households.
Expected price of rice is Php.25 to Php.28 depending on it’s age.
