Civil Defense Office Urge Public Be Habagat Ready
The Office of Civil Defense or OCD, urged the public last Saturday, August 9, to be ready for the possible heavy rains, floods, and landslides especially those in low areas brought by the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.
According to the OCD, the public must heed the warnings to avoid any loss of life.
“It is good news that Tropical Cyclone Fabian did not affect the country and Podul is unlikely to directly affect us. However, we should not be complacent, as we still face the threats posed by the southwest monsoon, or ‘habagat,’ which may lead to renewed floods and landslides,” as stated by OCD Officer-in-Charge Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV.
