The debut episode of Kalikasan, Lipunan at Pulitika, hosted by senatorial aspirant Roy Jerusalem Cabonegro of the Democratic Party of the Philippines (DPP) – Makakalikasan Party Alliance, began with a bold and timely discussion of pressing national issues.
Cabonegro opened with reflections on the recent Rally for Peace organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) on January 13, 2025. This massive event, attended by over 1.5 million Filipinos, featured a keynote address from Congressman Rodante Marcoleta and underscored the INC’s call for unity amidst escalating political tensions.
The rally called for non-violence and constructive dialogue among political leaders, resonating with a public increasingly disillusioned by partisan conflicts. Analysts interpret the unprecedented turnout as a clear signal of widespread demand for peace and resolution through collective action.
In response, Cabonegro aligned with the rally’s spirit, reiterating the Makakalikasan Party Alliance’s unwavering commitment to PEACE and SOLIDARITY. He criticized divisive political antics, emphasizing that such distractions undermine the nation’s ability to confront its most urgent challenges—including environmental degradation, economic instability, and national security threats.
However, Cabonegro went a step further by asserting that PEACE must be inseparable from JUSTICE. He urged a swift but fair resolution of the cases filed against Vice President Sara Duterte and called for Congress to uphold due process in the ongoing impeachment proceedings. “True peace is not merely the absence of conflict,” Cabonegro remarked, “but the presence of justice and accountability.”
As the campaign season heats up, Cabonegro’s commentary signals a clear agenda: fostering unity while demanding transparency and fairness, even when it challenges the political establishment. His call to action for a more inclusive and just society positions him as a transformative voice in the nation’s turbulent political landscape.
