Road Closure in Mindanao Avenue for Construction of the Metro Manila Subway Station

 

The two outer lanes of Mindanao Avenue were closed to commuters starting on (June 28, 2024), to give way for the construction of Tandang Sora Station of the Metro Manila Subway Station.

 

The Metro Manila Subway Station is a significant infrastructure that aims to enhance public transportation in Metro Manila. The Metro Manila Subway features 17 stations including the Tandang Sora Station on Mindanao Avenue the reason for road closure. The Subway is projected to accommodate approximately 519,000 passengers upon its completion.

 

In light of the road closure on Mindanao Avenue, the DOTr established a diversion road however only light vehicles are allowed to pass the diversion road. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes to reduce the traffic congestion on the construction site.

 

The Metro Manila Subway is estimated to become fully operational in 2029, this metro subway can travel 85 kilometers per hour which can significantly reduce the travel time of commuters. The Metro Manila Subway starts from Valenzuela City and ends in Pasay City. Commuters can travel from Valenzuela to Pasay in just 35 minutes upon the completion of the Metro Manila Subway.

 

The closure of the outer lanes on Mindanao Avenue marks a crucial step in the construction of the Metro Manila Subway, a project that aims to develop and improve public transportation in Metro Manila. As the project progresses commuters may experience traffic congestion due to the road closure. Once the Metro Subway is completed thousands of commuters will benefit from faster transportation.
