ALARMED by the seeming indifference of Filipinos over the maritime tension in the West Philippine Sea, an advocacy group has urged the people to be mindful of their patriot duty.
“The Filipino nation is facing serious issues that could turn the country into a much weaker state, and become more vulnerable to Chinese subterfuge,” said the group Pinoy Aksyon for Governance and the Environment, Inc. (Pinoy Aksyon) in a statement released Wednesday, June 26.
Against this backdrop, Pinoy Aksyon calls on all Filipinos “to be mindful of their patriotic duties, and for politicians, political parties and social movements to set aside differences and fight for the country.”
The ‘Chinazation’ of the country is “two-pronged,” the think-tank noted. “One is the West Philippine Sea where Chinese forces and militia are getting bolder; the other is here in our motherland where a cabal of pro-China murderers and plunderers are running roughshod our democratic institutions.”
While the national government struggles to develop credible armed forces to uphold Philippine sovereignty and protect our national territory, and forge alliances with friendly countries, there is a struggle to be fought in the heartland of the Philippines, the think-tank notes. “This fight should be expose, isolate, and make the collaborators accountable.
Meanwhile, the group has reiterated its call on the national government to raise before the United Nations China’s malevolent behavior in the West Philippine Sea.
Two months ago, the group wrote President Bongbong Marcos to invoke the “Pacific Settlement of Disputes” provisions in the UN Charter.
Pinoy Aksyon warned in its letter to the President dated March 28, 2024, that “China’s inordinate actions have made a hawkish turn and could be harbingers of worst things to come.” Bringing to the attention of the UN the illegal Chinese incursions in the WPS is anathema to the ‘war’ narrative peddled by Chinese collaborators, it added.
At that time, a Filipino soldier was injured in a water cannon attack. This time, a Filipino soldier lost a thumb, and others were hurt by the Chinese coast guard acting like pirates. Elsewhere in the country, Chinese collaborators, the modern-day ‘makapili,’ are busy destabilizing Malacanang.
“International law is the refuge of the smaller states. It enables these smaller states to coexist peacefully with the powerful states in the family of nations,” said BenCyrus G. Ellorin, Pinoy Aksyon convenor.
“While we seek peaceful relief from the UN; here at home, political leaders, political parties, and social movements should come together to isolate the ‘Manchurian candidates.’
“We appeal for a small sacrifice from our political leaders, parties, and leaders of social movements for our ‘Inang Bayan,’” Ellorin said.
Pinoy Aksyon is a non-partisan volunteer organization that has been on the frontline in the campaign against Chinazation of the country and the Chinese violations of the country’s territorial integrity and sovereign rights.
