The Philippine National Police installed their 14th Director of PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Hernia.
The Turn-Over Ceremony was presided by PLt. Gen. Rhodel Semonia, the Acting Deputy Chief PNP for Administration.
In his message, PLt. Sermonia expressed his appreciation to the outgoing ACG Director PBgen Doria for his unwavering leadership and dedication to duty as ACG welcomes its newly installed Chief in the person of PBGen Hernia.
Hernia is a proud member of PMA “TANGLAW-DIWA” Class of 1992 where he graduated as the Class Magna Cum Laude.
A consistent scholar from elementary to high school graduating as class Valedictorian in 1982 and 1986 respectively, it comes as no surprise to see him soar high even in his Mandatory Schooling.
PBGen Hernia believed that to build a Police Commissioned Officer into an all-seasoned leader, he has to come out of his comfort zone and find his nest in other areas where he will have the opportunity to hone his leadership potential and sharpen his skills.
“I know this will be a challenging call to my leadership, but I wholeheartedly accept it,” Hernia said.
The event was attended by some classmates of Hernia, ACG’s Command Group, Division Chiefs, and District Team Leaders in the metro while the different Regional Chiefs were watching the event online.
PBGen. Doria, the outgoing Director congratulated his successor and communicated his confidence in him that he will be able to take ACG to greater heights of accomplishments as he takes on the challenge to continue the fight against all forms of cyberspace criminality.
In his message, the new Director quoted Newton Lee who said “As the world is increasingly interconnected, everyone shares the responsibility of securing cyberspace”. ACG’s Top Cop enjoined everyone to give utmost priority to implementing cyber-resiliency measures to enhance the organization’s capabilities and capacities in addressing cybercrime. He stressed the need to cultivate a culture of cybersecurity where it becomes a priority at all levels in the PNP organization.
