Lorenzo “Larry” Gadon, known for being a very vocal supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte and the Marcoses, filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) on Tuesday to run for president in 2022.
He said the country was suffering because of the policies put into place by the Aquinos and the 1987 Constitution. Gadon is known as a very vocal supporter of Duterte but a harsh critic of the three deceased Aquinos – Benigno Jr. (Ninoy), Corazon, and Benigno 3rd (Noynoy).
“We are now a backward country compared to other neighboring Asian countries with the policy of ‘let us be stone age’ of the Aquinos,” he said.
“So, now I am running for senator to change the Constitution because that stifles the nation’s progress,” he added in Filipino.
Gadon is making this third attempt to land a seat at the Senate, having lost in the 2016 and 2019 polls.
He gained some fame in the ouster of former chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno in 2018.
