Quezon Fourth District Representative Angelina “Helen” Tan filed on Sunday her certificate of candidacy to run for the Quezon province gubernatorial post.
Tan will be running under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) and will have Lucena City Councilor Anacleto “Third” Alcala III as her running mate.
Tan will be going up against incumbent Quezon Governor Danilo Suarez of the Lakas-CMD.
“Dr. Helen Tan has formally accepted the plea of our fellow Filipinos to serve as the mother of the Quezon province. Dr. Tan expresses her gratitude to those who have trusted and supported her, and are praying for her Serbisyong Tunay at Natural (real and natural service) and candicacy for governor,” a statement in Filipino from her camp said.
Tan said that if she is elected governor of Quezon province, she will continue her Healing Agenda and expand the province’s health programs especially amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and generate more livelihood programs and jobs to fight poverty.
Tan is currently the House Committee on Health chairperson and one of here recent accomplishments as a legislator is the creation of the Virology Institute of the Philippines (VIP) and the securing of the funding for the institute. The VIP is already assured of P283-million funding.
