Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Monday challenged Vice President Leonor “Leni” Robredo to criticize her only if the vice president has the intention of running for president in 2022.
This, as Duterte slammed Robredo for criticizing Davao City’s medical community for the recent surge of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in Davao City.
“The VP should avoid involving the Covid-19 surge in Davao City in her attempt at politicking. There will be a proper time to attack my performance as an LCE (local chief executive) in this pandemic if she dares to run for president,” the mayor said.
The daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte also said Robredo should stop giving advise on issues related to Covid-19 unless she knows what is happening on the ground. Duterte added the vice president usually offers solutions to solve an issue.
“This has been the hallmark of her term as VP, where she puts forth comments on matters and affairs she lacks understanding and knowledge on and does not offer anything helpful to solve the problem,” Duterte said.
She added that Robredo should not to criticize Davao City’s medical community as not acting on the surge of Covid-19 cases in the city.
“The private sector has been very helpful and has tremendously contributed to the Covid-19 response in Davao City,” Duterte said.
“The VP should not attack the medical community of Davao City as being inactive when they have been silently suffering and working tirelessly to help save lives since March of last year,” she added.
