Robredo also open to seeking local position in 2022

Vice President Robredo is also open to running for local office in the 2022 elections, which may be good news for those who are seeking the country’s top position in the coming polls.

Although she said in a television interview that she is open to running for president in 2022, Robredo said she is “happier” with seeking a local position.

“If I run for president, I need to be really ready — ready not only for the job but for the fight, and that’s where the problem is,” she said in Filipino in a television interview from Naga City, Camarines Sur.

She added that she is open to possibilities for May 2022.

However, Robredo later said that she is “happier” to be elected locally since she would be in “direct contact” with constituents. She added that if she was to be very honest and had a choice, she prefers seeking a local position in 2022.

Rumors have that the Liberal Party may select Robredo as its standard-bearer for the 2022 polls.

Prior to her getting elected as vice president in the 2016 polls, Robredo represented the Third District of Camarines Sur in the House of Representatives.
