BREAKING!  PH  COVID updates: 82,040 cases;  1,945 deaths;  26,446 recoveries

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reported 1,657 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 82,040 cases in the Philippines.

“As of 4PM today, July 27, 2020, the Department of Health reports the total number of COVID-19 cases at 82,040,” said DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin  #135.

A total of 1,657 confirmed  cases are reported  based on the total tests done by 59 out of 90 current operational labs.

The DOH likewise reported 16 new fatalities bringing the death toll to 1,945 in the country.

Of the 16 deaths, 14 (88%) in July, 1 (6%) in June, 1 (6%) in May. Deaths were from Region 7 (8 or 50%), NCR (7 or 44%), Region 12 (1 or 6%).

DOH likewise announced 359 recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 26,446.

The DOH said there are 53,649 total active cases in the country, net of COVID-19 deaths and recoveries.

Sixty-five duplicates were removed from the total case count.

Of these, 23 recovered cases and two deaths have been removed. Moreover, one case that was previously reported to have died has been validated to be an active case.

These numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation, said the DOH./Stacy Ang
