1,101 health workers infected with COVID-19

The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday said there are 1,101 health care workers who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, 434 are physicians or doctors, 400 are nurses, 55 are nursing assistants, 32 are medical technologists, and 21 are radiologic technologists.

Twenty-six health workers have died to the illness. Of these, 20 were doctors and six were nurses.

“Kami po ay taus-pusong nakikiramay sa mga pamilya at kaibigang nauulila ng ating mga health care workers na pumanaw dahil sa sakit na ito,” Vergeire said at a live briefing.

The DOH on Saturday reported a total of 7,294 COVID-19 cases, 792 recoveries, and 494 fatalities./Stacy Ang
