Police on Wednesday filed criminal charges against the dismissed  security guard who took hostage about 30  people inside a shopping mall in Greenhills, San Juan City.

According to the Eastern Police District (EPD), Paray was charged  with frustrated murder, serious illegal detention, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, and illegal possession of explosive and incendiary device.

Paray is detained at the San Juan City Police Station.

Paray was arrested after he held hostage around 30  people inside Greenhills Shopping Center on Monday.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora earlier said the suspect never asked for money in exchange for the release of the hostages.

Paray rejected a P1 million offer from his security agency as he only wanted to air his grievances surrounding the unfair treatment of the mall’s security officials to security guards./Stacy Ang
