Kai Sotto bags MVP honors in Atlanta tournament

on

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino teen basketball sensation Kai Sotto bagged the Most Valuable Player award after leading The Skill Factory National to a championship in the King Invitational tournament at Brandon Hall Academy in Atlanta, Georgia.

Sotto was hailed MVP after averaging 27.0 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 4.3 blocks in the King Invitational Tourney.

The 7-foot-2 center left the Philippines early last year to train in the US as he tries to become the first Filipino homegrown to make the NBA.

Sotto had planned to play with Mighty Sports, but he eventually passed up because of “logistical and scheduling issues.”

The 17-year old Sotto has been attracting attention from NCAA schools. He is currently a four-star recruit and ranks no. 11 in the projected big men list of the 2021 NBA Draft Class. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/Currentph.com)
