Urban blight continues to undermine beautification efforts of local government units in Metro Manila, best exemplified by these homeless families which dangerously slept together on top a narrow street island barrier.

It may be recalled previous administrations even launched “Balik Probinsya” program before for the homeless but the problem persists even now under Duterte administration many perceive to have the necessary political will for change.

According to the United Nations, people who earns with less than $1.25 (P58) income per day is considered poor.

Of the Philippines’ 105 million population, there are at least 27.6 million Filipinos (33%) who live below the poverty line. (Benjie Cuaresma/IAMIGO/Currentph.com)
