MANILA, Philippines — Ginebra has stepped closer at locking in the PBA Governor’s Cup crown as it took a commanding 3-1 lead following a 94-74 rout of arch rival Meralco in Game 4 Wednesday night in their best-of-seven title series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Gin Kings had the game decided early on as they outscored the Bolts, 28-17, in the second quarter from 14-all count at the end of the first quarter.
They never looked back from there.
Once again Justin Brownlee put up a solid all-around game as he delivered 27 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, five steals, on top of four blocks for Ginebra.
The Gin Kings can finish the championship series with the Bolts in Game 5 Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
On the other hand, Stanley Pringle added 21 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Scottie Thompson played his best game so far in the finals with 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.
Meanwhile, Allen Durham, who was named the Best Import of the Conference earlier Wednesday, was seemingly caught in an off night as he was held to 9-for-23 shooting and only got 21 points and committed six turnovers, although he too had 27 rebounds and seven assists for Meralco.
