Overpriced speed guns a misunderstanding–PNP spox

on

There’s no overpricing as the Philippine National Police (PNP) is mulling the purchase of speed laser gun systems, says PNP spokesperson Bernard Banac. Likewise, no harm has been done since no bidding has been conducted.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte decided to withdraw procurement powers from the PNP after intelligence reached the president that the PNP is proposing to buy speed guns with a tag price of close to a million pesos per unit. Duterte, thru his spokesperson Salvador Panelo, wants the PNP investigated since the president knows that the price of one speed gun is barely 10,000 pesos.

Duterte allocated 377 million for the PNP to purchase not just speed guns but even breath analyzers.

Duterte now wants DILG secretary Eduardo Ano to manage the bidding of these equipment after the discovery of the alleged “overpricing.”
