MANILA, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra weathered the storm of a Meralco fightback on the final half en route to gain the necessary edge in their 2019-2020 PBA Governors’ Cup finals on Sunday, January 12.
Import Justin Brownlee led Ginebra’s determined campaign with a triple-double performance enough for the Gin Kings to build a comfortable lead that cushioned the Bolts’s final half rally and win, 92-84.
The win allowed the Gin Kings to seize a 2-1 lead in their best-of-seven championship series at the Araneta Coliseum.
Brownlee finished with 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists, including two dimes in the final two minutes that led to key buckets from LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar and helped Ginebra keep Meralco at bay.
Aguilar had 23 points and Stanley Pringle churned out 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists as the Gin Kings capitalized on the untimely exit of Raymond Almazan, who suffered a suspected knee strain.
Game 4 is slated Wednesday, January 14, over at the same venue. (JGo/Currentph.com)
