Hong Kong, UPDATE — Thousands of protesters have marched into the administrative region of China and occupied a large part of Hong Kong.

This marked the first time that police have allowed a protest movement led by the Civil Human Rights Front of a pro-democracy group.

Organizers estimate that 800,000 people attended but police said there were only 183,000 protesters on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, at least 11 people have been arrested for carrying a gun.

The protest began on June 9 over opposition to the extradition bill, which has since become an anti-government protest.

Many protesters were also injured and arrested while some Hong Kong officials strongly condemned the protesters’ vandalization. (Marian Sinamban/IAMIGO.CNS)
