MANILA, Philippines – Sibol-Philippines did not frustrate, in fact, the country’s online warriors delivered the first time esports was introduced.
Sibol salvaged a close 3-2 decision over Indonesia, 3-2, in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang on Sunday night at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan for the country’s very first gold medal in esports which made debut in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
Sibol scored first in the race-to-three duel before holding off the world-champion laden visitors.
But they soon found themselves trailing a game after Indonesia launched a spirited fightback.
But the Sibol squad, comprised of Angelo, Arcangel, Karl Nepomuceno, Kenneth Villa, Carlito Ribo Jr., Jason Torculas, Jeniel Bata-Anon, and Allan Castromayor, held on for the gold.
Sibol’s DOTA II and Starcraft II bets were still at it at press time Monday. (IAMIGO/CNS)
