MANILA, Philippines – They came. They played. They conquered the Philippines’ very own Malditas.

Defending champion Vietnam showed host PH Malditas who is the real boss as it eked out a convincing 2-0 win Thursday night that all but washed away the Philippines’ hope for the gold in the finals of the 30th Southeast Asian Games women’s football tournament at the Binan Football Stadium in Laguna.

The Malditas, who placed second in Group A, held their own in the first 59 minutes but cracked wide open when Thai Thi Tao scored the icebreaker in the 60th minute inside the box from a cross pass.

Teammate Nguyen Tuyet Dung wrapped things up with six minutes to go and sent the hosts packing off their bags.

In the other semis over at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium, Thailand chalked up a 1-0 win over Myanmar, setting up a rematch in the women’s finals against the defending champion Vietnam tomorrow in the same arena.

The charges of Lelet Dimzon will be gunning for their best finish in the tournament when they face the Burmese again for the bronze before the Thailand-Vietnam title clash. (LO/IAMIGO/CNS)
