Manila, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has approved a twenty percent (20%) increase in fares on electric public utility jeepneys or e-jeeps starting Wednesday, December 4, 2019.

The current fare is similar to that of regular jeepneys but with the impending increase, instead of the P9 minimum fare, e-jeep fares will now be P10.80.

According to the LTFRB Memorandum Circular 2019-061, e-jeepney fares will be more expensive but commensurate to an enjoyable ride to passengers aside from its being environmentally-friendly and safer features.

The LTFRB Memorandum Circular 2019-061 was signed by LTFRB Board members Engr. Ronaldo F. Corpus, Retired P/Maj. Gen. Antonio N. Gardiola Jr., and Retired Col. Renwick K. Rutaquio as OIC executive director on November 19. LTFRB Chairman Atty. Martin B. Delgra III was on leave when the document was signed.

The fares include other modern and electric public utility vehicles with aircon or otherwise. (Cate Pallarco/IAMIGO/CNS)
