Let’s support our athletes — Sen. Go

on

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Bong Go has on Monday (25 November 2019) urged all Filipinos to support “our athletes instead of regretting over money spent” on the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian Games the country is hosting starting Saturday, 30 November 2019.

According to Sen. Go, currently chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Filipino athletes now need moral support more than ever for them to exert more effort at getting medals rather than feeding them with unnecessary matters that could demoralize them.

Should there be a need for one, Go promised he would sponsor a senate inquiry to investigate concerns about reports of over-spending only after the Games.

“Kahit na piso lang ang nawala diyan sa pondo ay iimbestigahan ko, dahil iyan ay pera ng taong bayan,” the former Special Assistant to the President said.

But for now, the Senator from Davao City said what Filipinos need is to unite and show warm support for our athletes.

The neophyte senator has also called for an end to bickering that could affect the concentration of athletes and “when it is over, to just look at all the problems and investigate those who need to be investigated.”

Go claimed that if anyone would be proven to have plundered on the SEAG funds he or she would be punished accordingly. (Marian Sinamban/IAMIGO/CNS)
