Caloocan Victory Liner-Supremos try to solve Navotas puzzle today in MPBL

on

MANILA, Philippines – The Caloocan Victory Liner Supremos try — once again — to solve a puzzle that is Navotas-Uni Pak Sardines which has constantly been getting the best of them since last year.

In their previous two meetings particularly last June 6, 2018 and March 8, 2018; it was all Navotas’ way, winning: 59-55 and 66-56, respectively.

But time may have already changed and that’s what Supremos coach John Kallos likes to believe because for one he said, Caloocan Victory Liner is coming off an impressive two-game winning streak while Navotas UPS is down the line, nursing a three-game losing skid.

Aside from that, the Supremos now hold a supremely advantageous 13-9 win-loss slate even as Navotas is coming into their 6:45 p.m. game at Alonte Sports Arena in Binan City, Laguna holding a 5-14 game record.

In an interview earlier, Caloocan Supremos coach John Kallos said his team’s aspirations and chances in making it into the championship round of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) remain alive.

They only have to take it one at a time. And perhaps, including their tiff versus Navotas.

“As of now, one (1) step at a time ang plano namin. First step is we target the Quarterfinals, next Semifinals and then the Finals,” said Kallos.

The low-key mentor served before as assistant coach to then Adamson Falcons head coach Kenneth Duremdes in the UAAP men’s basketball division.

Duremdes is now the MPBL commissioner.

However, Kallos was the head coach of the Adamson Lady Falcons back then.

The Victory Liner-backed Caloocan Supremos have already overshadowed what they achieved last year, last season, coach Kallos said but they are not going to sit on their laurels.

Rather, he said, his team will try to strive and push harder and further in the 31-team league.

“We are working hard to achieve our goals (championship round),” Kallos said adding the same is highly doable as “everyone in the team is dependable right now.” (IAMIGO/CNS)
