MANILA, Philippines — One step at a time.
That’s what Caloocan Supremos coach John Kallos have in mind as his team’s supreme guide in making it into the championship round of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).
“As of now, one (1) step at a time ang plano namin. First step is we target the Quarterfinals, next Semifinals and then the Finals,” said Kallos, who served before assistant coach to then Adamson Falcons head coach Kenneth Duremdes in the UAAP men’s basketball division. Duremdes is now MPBL commish.
But on the women’s side, Kallos used to be the head coach of the Adamson Lady Falcons back then.
And Kallos can never be prouder of his team in the MPBL that now because he said, at this point, the Victory Liner-backed Caloocan Supremos have already overshadowed what they achieved last year, last season.
Coming off a convincing 76-65 win over Valenzuela Carga Backload Solutions, Kallos claims the Supremos have already surpassed their scorecard last year of 11 wins.
They now hold an impressive 13 wins against nine losses and they still have eight (8) more games remaining before the season ends.
Their next outing will be opposite Navotas Uni-Pak Sardines at 6:45 p.m. at Alonte Sports Arena in Binan City, Laguna.
Coming into that game, the 13-9 Supremos hold a distinct advantage with their two-game winning streak against Navotas (5-14) which is coming off a three-game losing skid.
“We are working hard to achieve our goals,” Kallos said adding the same is highly doable as “everyone in the team is dependable right now.”
Kallos stressed all is well with the team and MPBL as a whole saying “Socsargen team lang naman po involved” referring to the recent game fixing imbroglio that rocked the young 31-team league. (IAMIGO/CNS)
