MANILA, Philippines – Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spokesperson Celine Pialago announced the prohibition on applying of asphalt and beautification of cities in Metro Manila today at the Tapatan Forum for the holidays where traffic is terrible.
Pialago made the announcement amid the start of the “weekdays” sale on malls.
MMDA previously announced that it will ban weekdays sale in malls from November 11 to January 2020 to prevent heavy traffic on Christmas season and New Year.
Pialago reminded the Mayors in NCR that they should stop the asphalting and beautification of roads and rather continue it next year to ease the traffic that Christmas season might cause.
Pialago added that LGU may allow it in the instances that requires closure of roads such as broken water pipes, power cables to be repaired and activities related to Build Build Build program of the government. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
