SORSOGON, SORSOGON — Sorsogon has set on Thursday, 31 October 2019, a Guinness World Record for the largest Filipino folk dance presentation in a single venue at the close of the Kasanggayahan Festival here.
According to the Department of Tourism, about 7,127 dancers jammed the streets of Sorsogon City en route to chalking up the very first Guinness Record for the country in such a category.

Governor Chiz Escudero and wife, actress Heart Evangelista, led the event of traditional Bicolano dance of love and courtship.
Thousands of participants in their kimono costumes and abaca slippers joined the parade.
Both Escudero took to Twitter to express his happiness and pride over the award.

“Congrats Sorsogon!!! We are in the Guinness Book of World Records!!! Most number of participants in a Folk Dance!!!” said Escudero in his twitter post.
Sorsogon Provincial Tourism Office said the “Largest Filipino Folk Dance” event was the first time for the province to hit a world record on Guinness for such a category. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
