MANILA, Philippines – The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers defended their Invitational Cup title with a successful, 25-22, 25-19, 17-25, 22-25, 15-12 victory over fierce rival Petron Blaze Spikers on Thursday, 17 October 2019, at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Kalei Mau, who was absent in the first five games of F2, blasted away with 30 big points to carry the Cargo Movers to win their second straight conference title in the Philippine Superliga.
The Cargo Movers was one set away at sweeping the Blaze Spikers for good but spark-plug Bernadette Pons came off the bench and helped Sisi Rondina and Aiza Maizo Pontillas and they stretched the match to the limit.
But F2 Logistics proved tougher when it mattered most behind the brilliant plays of Mau who spearheaded the Cargo Movers onslaught en route to outlasting the Blaze Spikers in the fifth set to bag the Invitational crown.
Majoy Baron and Kim Kianna Dy delivered for the Cargo Movers with 15 and 14 points respectively while Dawn Macandili protected the floor with 26 digs.
On the other hand, Pontillas finished with 23 points for the Blaze Spikers while Pons and Rondina had 18 and 14 apiece.
It was the only loss of Petron in the tournament after sweeping the elimination round including their win against F2 sans their top hitter and the All-Filipino Conference MVP Kalei Mau due to injury.
