Palm d’Or Best Director Brillante Mendoza as judge in Turkey’s Bosphorous filmfest

Internationally acclaimed Filipino filmmaker and 2009 Palm d’Or Best Director of the prestigious Canne International Film Festival Brillante Ma. Mendoza has flown to Turkey to sit as main judge of the 7th Bhosporous International Film Festival in Istanbul, Turkey.

Mendoza—fresh from the screening of his latest masterpiece, “Mindanao” at the 2019 Busan International Film Festival—is the President of the Jury on International Film Competition of the world film event in Istanbul from October 18 to 25, 2019.

According to Brillante, “I am not bringing any of my films in the festival. It will be pure judging.”

Bhosporous filmfest, organized by the Bhosporous Cinema Association and the Istanbul Media Academy, has an outstanding programming with 83 films competing for the national Golden Dolphin Award to be judged by director Mahmut Fazil Coskun and the international feature film plums.

Meanwhile, Mendoza and Korean director Kim Di Duk will also be given honorary awards at the opening and closing ceremonies, respectively.

The two renowned world filmmakers will also hold master classes for filmmakers in Turkey. (Boy Villasanta)
