BOC Serves Search Warrant on Discaya Family Over Luxury Cars
September 2, 2025 – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) served a search warrant on the properties of Sarah and Curlee Discaya in Pasig City as part of the ongoing Senate investigation into their alleged ownership of several undeclared luxury vehicles. The operation was conducted following reports that some of the family’s cars were not properly documented with the BOC.
Authorities were expecting to find 12 high-end vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Bentayga, Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-AMG G63, and Toyota Land Cruisers. However, only two units, a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Maserati were discovered during the raid, fueling further questions on the whereabouts of the missing vehicles.
The search came after a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing where Sarah Discaya admitted that her family owns 28 luxury cars. She claimed that several of these vehicles were acquired through installment plans and clarified that some are used as service cars for her employees. Senators, however, expressed doubts over the scale of her car collection and the legitimacy of their importation.
BOC officials said 12 of the Discaya vehicles do not appear in the bureau’s importation records, raising possible violations under the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. The agency assured lawmakers and the public that it will fully cooperate with the Senate probe and will pursue appropriate legal action if misdeclaration or tax evasion is proven.
The controversy over the luxury cars adds to the wider investigation into the Discaya family’s companies, which were awarded multi-billion peso flood control projects now under scrutiny for alleged irregularities. Senators earlier flagged possible links between public contracts and unexplained wealth, urging tighter monitoring of government suppliers.
The BOC emphasized that its enforcement drive will remain transparent and in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to intensify the campaign against smuggling and corruption. The Senate is expected to continue its hearings in the coming weeks to determine accountability in the Discaya case and related infrastructure projects.
