PNP Chief removed from his post

General Nicolas Torre was removed from his post as  Philippine National Police Chief today, August 26, 2025.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed the Memorandum in circulation that the  PNP chief was relieved from it’s position. He stated that it was a hard decision from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s end since the PNP chief is a good friend of the President.

Rumors speculated that reasons for such decision might be due to some certain issues with appointments among the ranks of the PNP which the National Police Comission (NAPOLCOM) questioned.

General Torre has an option to retain in service or have an early retirement.

Meanwhile, General Jose Melencio Nartates Jr. was appointed as replacement of General Torre.Nartates is a member of PMA class 1992 and was set to retire in 2027.
