Sara Duterte group pushing Bongbong Marcos as running mate in 2022

The supporters of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio are hoping that former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will become her running mate for the 2022 polls.

“This is the best team that can lead the country in the next six years due to their combined experience and genuine empathy for the common folk,” said Abra Rep. Joseph Bernos, the vice president of Hugpong Para Kay Sara.

“Sure, I say this because I and former senator Marcos are both from the north, but it would be very difficult to argue that this team is the most qualified for the jobs of president and vice president,” he added.

However, the Davao city mayor earlier said she is no longer interested in running for any national position in 2022 as her father will be running for vice president with Senator Bong Go as his running mate.

“Yes, I am not running for a national position as we both agreed only one of us will run for a national position in 2022,” she said in a television interview.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday last week formally accepted his nomination as the official vice presidential candidate of the ruling party, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), to ensure the “continuity” of his efforts to bring progress to the country.

Marcos has yet to reveal his definite plans for 2022.
