Iconic Filipino boxer and Senator Manny Paquiao is facing a lawsuit in the United States over an alleged botched fight deal.

A report by The Athletic showed that Audie Attar, who also represents fighters like Conor McGregor, has filed a lawsuit against Pacquiao who allegedly breached a contract by signing up to fight Errol Spence Jr. instead of Mikey Garcia.

Attar, who runs Paradigm Sports Management, said he was negotiating a fight between Pacquiao and four-division champion Garcia but the Filipino ending up signing a contract to fight Spence instead. Reports have it that Attar also wants to recover the $3.3-million (about $158 million) he advanced to Pacquiao that was part of the Garcia fight deal.

Also, Attar is seeking legal action to stop the Pacquiao-Spence fight scheduled for August 21, 2021.

Garcia has reportedly terminated his relations with Paradigm.

Paradigm attorney Judd Burstein also said Pacquiao’s alleged actions also damaged the company’s reputation.

“In addition to the millions of dollars in straightforward economic loss that Paradigm stands to suffer, the damage to its reputation resulting from Pacquiao’s breaches is incalculable. Just when Paradigm was at the cusp of establishing itself as a major player in professional boxing, Pacquiao has left its reputation as a boxing representative in tatters,” he said.

Pacquiao was in earlier talks with Paradigm over a possible fight against McGregor. However, McGregor’s loss to Dustin Poirier in a mixed martial arts championship bout early this year put the planned megafight to the backburner.
