It’s confirmed–former Philippine president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III is dead. Atty. Adolfo Azcuna, chief legal counsel of Noynoy’s mother, former president Corazon Aquino, confirmed this news this morning while several other Pnoy cabinet members, including former Local government’s chief Mar Roxas console with the bereaved family at Capitol Medical Center.  He died at the age of 61 years old without any heirs.

Sources say Noynoy died due to stage four lung cancer. His kidneys reportedly gave out during dialysis, followed subsequently by a heart attack.

Last December, Noynoy was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Makati Medical center.

Eversince he left public office, there were persistent rumors of Noynoy getting COPD, a smoking related disease similar with what President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has right now. Sources say Noynoy has been getting treatment for it for a long time now but the illness worsened.

The illness got so worse that Kris Aquino’s eldest son who is the closest nephew of the bachelor president decided to live with his tito until the very end at their ancestral house in Tarlac City.

Early this morning, June 24, 2021, Noynoy was rushed to the Capitol medical center after complaining of severe chest pains.

The Aquino family is still under shock due to the loss of Noynoy. Noynoy reportedly assumed as the family’s anchor after his mother Cory died in 2009.

Noynoy Aquino ran and won the presidency in 2010. His administration is credited for growing the Philippine economy, for its efficient handling of the SARS pandemic, and for six years of peace. He will be remembered as a President who gave most of life serving a people that at least for several years earned the respect of the world.
