The Department of Health (DOH)  on Sunday logged 862 more cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)—16 “fresh,” or newly validated and 846 reported late—bringing the total to 18,086.

The DOH also announced that total recoveries rose to 3,909 after 101 more patients recovered from the respiratory illness.

The death toll climbed to 957 with seven new fatalities.

Among the fresh cases, six were from Metro Manila, while the remaining 10 were spread out across the country.

Among the late cases, 238 came from Metro Manila, 235 were repatriates, 81 were from Region VII, and the 292 other patients came from various areas nationwide.

“Today’s fresh cases are based on the daily accomplishment reports submitted by only 15 out of 42 operational laboratories,” the DOH said.

“Late cases reported from 28-31 May are based on the validation of complete line lists from 27 operational laboratories and the partial line list from 1 laboratory. No more late cases will be reported until the remaining 14 operational labs submit their line lists,” the DOH also said./Stacy Ang
