Gymnast Carlos Yulo to receive President’s Award

MANILA, Philippines — Top Pinoy gymnast and 2020 Tokyo Olympics-bound Carlos Edriel “Caloy” Yulo is set to receive the President’s Award distinction at the upcoming 2020 Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Annual Awards on March 6, 2020 at the Centennial Hall of Manila Hotel in Manila.

The 19-year-old pulled off an extraordinary performance when he became the first Pinoy and Southeast Asian gymnast to won a gold medal (Men’s Floor Exercise) in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and became the second Pinoy to qualify to the Summer Olympics set this year.

Yulo also pocketed two golds and 5 silver medals in the recently-concluded 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

Team Philippines, meanwhile, will be recognized with the prestigious Athlete of the Year award for winning the overall SEA Games crown last December 2019.

Other special awards to be given in the event are Executive of the Year, National Sports Association of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Ms. Basketball, Mr. Volleyball, Ms. Golf, Mr. Football, and Coach of the Year.
