MANILA – Following Philippine National Police chief Archie Gamboa’s sacking of three officials in Central Visayas, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas announced Friday the creation of a “Red Team” that would monitor Metro Manila policemen playing golf during weekdays.

The NCRPO directive followed only a day after Gamboa announced Thursday sacking of three police officials in Central Visayas for playing golf during weekdays.

Relieved were Colonel Dennis Artil, Police Regional Office-7 comptroller; Police Lieutenant Colonel Richard Bad-Ang, PRO-7 finance services chief; and Police Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Mayam, PRO-7 Drug Enforcement Group chief.

The top cop said that he ordered the reassignment of the erring police officers to the personnel holding and accounting unit at the national headquarters while undergoing investigation for flagrant violation of a specific directive, an act that constitutes grave misconduct.

According to Sinas the Red Team is the group he assigned to monitor the illegal activities of policemen, may be recalled to perform other functions.

” Ngayon may nahuli baka may mag-attempt na naman may maglaro (Now that there were [some who] caught playing golf, there could be people who would attempt to play),” said Sinas who urged help from the public.

“I like to encourage the public na pag may nakitang pulis [na] naglalaro, picturan nyo lang ipadala sa hotlines siguradong aaksyunan [I like to assure the public that if you catch any policeman playing golf, take a picture and send it to our hotlines, we will take action],” Sinas said.

And it would not only be the game of golf as Sinas also vowed that other illegal activities such as going to the night clubs would be monitored. (Ismael Amigo/Editor/Currentph.com)
