MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang has ordered concerned government agencies to come up with necessary preparations along with counter-measures ahead of typhoon Tisoy’s onslaught Wednesday.

Weather state bureau predicted for Tisoy to make a landfall in Metro Manila Wednesday with several local government units like Manila was reported to have already implemented preemptive evacuation activities for coastal living residents.

Classes in all levels in private and public schools were already canceled in some areas Monday and Tuesday due to inclement weather brought about by the storm. 

Several airlines have also canceled several flights scheduled yesterday and today, Tuesday.

The Office of the President told concerned agencies like the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to give more focus on areas expected to be badly hit by Typhoon Tisoy.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, the said government agencies will be on a 24/7 standby mode for the possible disaster and relief operations.

He said that they will continue monitoring the situation of Typhoon “Tisoy” in areas such as Camarines Norte wherein 434 families and 1,328 individuals have already been evacuated from the towns of Basud, Jose Panganiban and Vinzons.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development was also told to hold at least P2 billion as standby fund resultant disaster and recovery needs.

The Palace’s also called on the public to stay alert and be updated on the latest weather advisory in their respective areas.

Citizens are also advised to follow the advice of the authorities especially if evacuation is needed to prevent harm.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Officer-in-Charge Police Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa men are also in standby mode and in full alert status throughout Luzon and the Visayas Region in connection with the possible impact of Typhoon “Tisoy.”

Venues of on-going 30th Sea Games in the country were also considered areas of concern.

According to PNP Spokesperson Police Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, Gamboa has also mobilized the National Headquarters 1st Level Battle Staff to ensure the Command and Control of all the PNP units in preparation for the disaster response operations in the affected areas. (Gelica Paulo/IAMIGO/CNS)
