Manila, Philippines — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said he is ready to lead the Philippine National Police (PNP) in an interim capacity or until he finds the “right one” for the post vacated by then PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde.
The President’s number one criterion for the next PNP chief is honesty and dedication to lead the National Police.
In this regard, the President announced that if he cannot “find the right one” who is not corrupt, it would be better for him to take over the organization temporarily.
Accordingly, all he had to do is to guide the PNP and provide direction.
Albayalde resigned a week ahead of his retirement date last November 9, 2019.
The PNP is currently under the care of OIC or officer in charge in Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa. (Cate Pallarco/IAMIGO/CNS)
