MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte and the National Police are dead serious against “vaping in public places.”

That’s what around 10 individuals found out Sunday (24 November 2019) as they were ably collared and hauled off to different police precincts in Metro Manila.

Allegedly arrested were “public vapers” in Sta. Cruz and Malate, Manila as well as in Makati City.

Appearing in Sunday’s forum in Sampaloc, Manila, National Capital Region Police Office chief Gen. Debold Sinas said names of the suspects were recorded on police blotter in accordance with a Malacanang directive.

Sinas added the police’s drive against public vaping does not only involve violators of the anti-public vaping order but vape stores and owners as well.

The NCRPO chief said his men have started talking to vape store owners in barangays and malls and warned them about President Duterte’s order.

The PNP according to Sinas, also has a stern ordinance stating and declaring all police precincts as  “No Vape Zone” nationwide.

And to be effective in enforcing the Presidential Order, all police personnel should also toe the line and follow the anti-vaping directive Sinas said.

Meantime, Sinas also forewarned spectators in the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian Games the country is hosting from November 30 to December 11, 2019, to also observe the anti-vaping in public order. (Benjie Cuaresma/IAMIGO/CNS)
