PH guns for Olympic berth in FIBA 3×3 qualifying tourney

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines is taking a step closer into getting a July 2020 Tokyo Olympics berth after grabbing a slot together with 19 other nations that will compete in the 2020 FIBA 3 on 3 Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament that will take place in March 2020 in India.

The announcement was made on Friday in Utsunomiya, Japan.

The Philippines will be joined by Slovenia, France, Qatar, and the Dominican Republic in Pool C of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament where three tickets to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics at stake.

Mongolia, Poland, Brazil, Turkey, and Spain are in Pool A, while Pool B will have USA, Lithuania, Belgium, South Korea, and New Zealand.

Pool D, on the other hand, has the Netherlands, Latvia, Canada, Croatia, and host India.

Meanwhile, Serbia, Russia, China, and host nation Japan are all qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The Philippines accumulated enough points to be named as one of the 20 countries to qualify in the 3 on 3 world basketball tournament.

The 2020 season of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3 on 3 will open in January as a tune-up for the national team. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
