MANILA, Philippines – Sibol athletes who can win gold medals in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games will receive cash incentives of P2 million for team events and P1 million for individual events from Smart Communications Inc.

The announcement was made on Monday, 27 October 2019, by PLDT chief revenue officer and Smart Communications Inc. president, Alfredo Panlilio, during the press launch of their “Get Gold!” campaign, whose focus is to provide cash incentives to Sibol athletes, coaches and managers for every gold medal won.
Sibol athletes are PH’s national eSports representatives in the biennial meet.

The Get Gold campaign is one way of further encouraging national eSports athletes to get as many gold medals as they can in the biennial regional sporting meet that is set to happen from Nov.30 to Dec.11.

“This is a huge milestone for eSports, and it is our greatest honor to support the best Filipino gamers as they prove that we have the talent, skill, and drive to dominate this increasingly growing scene,” said Panlilio at the press launch.

Sibol athletes, who’s rallying behind “Lakad Matatag” slogan, will receive P2-million cash prize for team events such as DOTA 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Arena of Valor.

Meantime, P1-million cash prize for individual events which includes Tekken 7, Hearthstone and StarCraft will be given away to each winner.

Smart Communications will be conducting a test tournament on Monday, 04 November 2019 in San Juan Arena, featuring Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
