MANILA, Philippines – Jamie Berberabe Lim, the daughter of Philippine basketball legend Samboy Lim and former Pag-ibig fund Chief Executive Officer Darlene Berberabe, captured the gold in the 2019 Amator Spor Haftasi Karate Championship in Sakarya, Turkey.
Jamie finished her match dominantly including an 8-0 finish against her opponent from the host city, winning her the gold medal in the Senior Female – 68kgs kumite.
The Philippine karate national team boosted its Southeast Asian (SEA) Games campaign after notching 8 medals including Jamie’s.

Rexor Tacay (senior male -67kgs kumite), Ivan Agustin (senior male -75kgs kumite) and Miyuki Tacay (senior female -61kgs kumite) each won silver respectively.
Other medalist from the Karate Pilipinas are Mae Soriano (senior female -55kgs kumite), Engene Dagohoy (senior male -84 kgs kumite), Prince Alejo (senior male -67kgs kumite) and Sharief Afif (senior male -75kgs kumite) who all won bronze.
Karate Pilipinas, together with their coach Okay Arpa, a former European and world champion joined the tournament for their two-month preparation in Turkey for the upcoming 30th SEA Games this November 30, 2019.
