Currentph.com was the first at the scene of the arrest of four suspects believed responsible for the assassination of Batuan, Ticao Island, Masbate vice mayor Charlie Yuson III.

Lalaine Yuson, wife of the slain government official, initially protested why Manila cops refused to show her the arrested suspects. She suspects Sandra Cam, a former local government official of Masbate and now, a Board member of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) could have a hand in this and even directly blamed Cam for the death of her husband a couple of days ago in Sampaloc, Manila.

Lalaine Yuson, meet the media in a mini-press conference on Thursday, 10 October 2019 and positively identified Cam as the brains behind the broad daylight killing of the 56-year-old Yuson by four armed men at an eatery on Vicente Cruz, Sampaloc, Manila.

However, Cam, a former board member in the Bicol Region, vehemently denied the allegations saying she has nothing to do with Yuson’s killing in which a nephew and an aide were also wounded.

The vice mayor was declared dead-on-arrival at the nearby UST Hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds sustained in different parts of his body. Wounded were his nephew Alberto, 23, and aide Alfredo Pineda , 44.

According to Mrs. Yuson, the motive of his husband’s killing is nothing more than politics.

She also showed the media a photo by netizens culled from a dragnet by Manila a silver-gray van (ACM 8804) that was allegedly used by the suspects that also led to their subsequent arrest.

Mrs. Yuson also claimed one of the suspects used to be a personal driver before of Cam.

As this developed, Mrs. Yuson also appealed to President Rodrigo Duterte to bring justice to her husband’s killing especially, she said, the alleged mastermind is a very influential person.

In a radio interview over at DWWW later in the day, Cam again denied having a hand in Yuson’s killing saying she is very busy attending to official business matters at PCSO.

Meantime, all of the four suspects (names withheld by police) are now in police custody in Manila and are all undergoing thorough investigation.

At least eight witnesses have already come forward to give testimonies. (BC/IAmigo/CNS with video courtesy of Jay Jalbuena)
