Batanes–as lovely yet as deadly as before

After being hit by a severe typhoon and an earthquake, what is now the status of Batanes island, that lovely idyllic place that is the Northern most parts of the Philippines?

Batanes group of Islands is a favourite tourism spot not just of Westerners, but of Filipinos as well. Yet, going there is a struggle. You can either drive up Cagayan province and from there, sit for two or three hours to dock at one of the biggest islands. Or a nearly an hour’s flight to Basco, the provincial capital.

These island group is only open for the first part of the year until July. When the typhoon season starts, it would be extremely difficult to go there.
