A new Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey by OCTA Research, dated October 22, 2025, revealed that 73% of adult Filipinos trust the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) — making it one of the country’s most trusted and best-performing government institutions for the third quarter of 2025.
Conducted from September 25 to 30, 2025, the survey found that 73% of Filipinos are satisfied with the AFP’s performance, reflecting a consistent level of trust and approval across regions and social classes.
Trust in the AFP was highest in Mindanao (84%) and the National Capital Region (82%), while regions such as BARMM, MIMAROPA, CARAGA, and the Zamboanga Peninsula showed near-universal trust and satisfaction. Among socio-economic groups, Class E respondents** reported 79% trust and 75% satisfaction with the military.
OCTA noted that these high ratings are likely tied to the public’s perception of the AFP’s integrity, professionalism, and non-partisan character, as well as its effective delivery of services.
Beyond institutional trust, 83% of Filipinos agree that the West Philippine Sea is vital to the nation’s maritime entitlements and must be defended, while 78% believe the AFP is capable of protecting the country from external threats.
Additionally, 80% of respondents support the AFP’s continued defense and security ties with the United States, reflecting strong public backing for the country’s strategic alliances amid regional tensions.
